Preliminary English for Tertiary Study (Pre EAP) (CRICOS Course Code: 106950F)
Our Pre EAP course is for strong Intermediate level students, who would like to begin exploring English in a more academic context, perhaps with the goal of eventually entering into tertiary and higher education in Australia.
This English language course addresses the four key skills of speaking, reading, writing and listening with a thematic approach that is contextualised to support students' ambitions of living and studying in Australia. In conjunction with these objectives, students are introduced to academic terminology, study skills and critical thinking required to be successful in future tertiary level academic study.
Description
- Class structure: 25 hours total per week
– Monday – Thursday: 5 hours of face-to-face learning
– Friday: 5 hours of research and/or workshops - A maximum capacity of 10 students per class.
- You will be provided with all relevant learning material
Level Requirement to Commence Course
- Valid student visa, working holiday visa, or tourist visa
- Minimum age: 17 years
- Strong Intermediate / B1+ language level with certificate of completion from The Language Academy OR placement test result equivalent to IELTS 5.5 (with writing band no less than 5.5)
Mode of study: On Campus
- Face-to-face at Level 2 – The Oasis Shopping Centre Broadbeach, Queensland 4218
- Group class of maximum 10 students
- Class attendance requirement: minimum 80% overall attendance

This program is an entry point for students interested in using English to pursue more academic goals in Australia. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for entry into a higher level EAP course or study at selected tertiary and higher education institutions. This course also serves as a bridge in your language journey between the Intermediate and Upper-intermediate levels of English. While specifically tailored towards those with academic aspirations, this course still focusses on improving overall language proficiency.
