Jade and Meryll
New Caledonia
🅠 What did you like most about studying at The Language Academy?
Ⓐ Meryll: A lot of things. The Gold Coast is bigger than New Caledonia [laughing]. The chance to have access to shopping centres, lots of markets and restaurants. It’s very different to home. The teachers who teach the English courses were very friendly. We liked the attention they gave to us, and their patience. It was cool to learn English with them. And Pablo too, a very nice person, he always gave time for us, explaining things.”
🅠 What was your biggest challenge while studying English?
Ⓐ Meryll: “To understand when people talk.”
Ⓐ Jade: “Yes, when people talk too fast [laughing].”
Ⓐ Meryll: “To talk to people, we try to talk slowly, and they don’t understand at first. But it’s a good experience.”
🅠 What has improved the most?
Ⓐ Meryll: “We can understand people more, and we learned a lot of new words and expressions in English.”
🅠 What was it like studying here on the Gold Coast?
Ⓐ Meryll: “It was nice to be here in the city. We went to Australia Fair, Pacific Fair, Harbour Town and Robina.”
Ⓐ Jade: “And Crystal Castle.”
🅠 How has this English course prepared you for the future?
Ⓐ Meryll: “Maybe my first job, but I know that I like speaking English, and in professional work it’s a plus to speak English. When you can speak English it’s easier to find a job. Maybe I will work in an office with French and English. I have to improve my English again so I’ll maybe see you later [laughing].”
🅠 What advice would you give to someone considering The Language Academy?
Ⓐ Meryll: “We recommend people to come study here. We don’t know if it’s the same in all Australian schools, but we like the way that the teachers do their work here. In our country it’s not the same, and we appreciate to learn this way, more than at home.”
